Balkan Green Foundation in cooperation with DokuFest, as part of the project “Promoting Green Energy in Kosovo” financed by GIZ Kosovo and within the framework of Kosovo Sustainable Development Week, organized movie screenings as classroom activities in different municipalities around Kosovo.
The intent was to raise awareness of younger generations on new, efficient, green measures and devices that can be used to show movies as opposed to ones we are traditionally used to seeing.
Solar Cinema has successfully travelled to four different schools in four different municipalities across Kosovo – Recan (primary school “Meto Bajraktari”), Rahovec (primary school “Isa Boletini” fb link: https://www.facebook.com/Shfmu-Isa-Boletini-Rahovec- 276584922450923), Ferizaj (secondary school “Zenel Hajdini” fb link: https://www.facebook.com/SHML-Zenel-Hajdini-453245735022245 ) and Obiliq (primary school “Ibrahim Rugova” fb link: https://www.facebook.com/shfmuirugova), where pupils had the chance to watch the documentary “Rafea: Solar Mama” and learn more about #renewableenergy.
The first traveling solar cinema in Kosovo – a cinema operating through the usage of solar energy was a project supported through "Empower-Engage-Build Ownership" granting scheme, implemented by Balkan Green Foundation and INDEP and funded by European Union Kosovo.
